Yesterday we uploaded a video snippet of Pinocchio who's now hopefully on the mend and putting on weight.
We have been supplied video of Pinocchio from before he came to us, he was still with mum then and learning the ropes of foraging for grub. It seems that somehow being separated from mum he ran into some trouble and that's where we stepped in.
Thankyou to Sue for passing this footage on.
We are now on the want for more footage like this, if anyone has any then drop us a line please.

Thank you all so much we reached our target on the just giving page❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ A little insight for you all, we currently have 13 residents inside and 3 outside on soft release which means that we use 1600g of dry food and 13 sachets of wet food daily (although some are fussy and will only eat the puppy mousse 🫣). A massive thank you to Carol for the hutches (pic 1) and to Brooke Cable for collecting them for us, they have now all been fabloned and so far 2 are in use. We might split them and turn them into 6 because they are massive but are an ideal size for mums and babies. Something for us to consider (and exactly how we would do it). The two residents are Falkor and Forest. Picture 2 is… More

In April DONT Just Bin It- North Devon CIC are holding auctions for Hedwig's Hotel Hedgehog Rescue
If there are any businesses who would like to donate any items starting from £1 they can advertise their services/products on this page for the month 😊
Any donations will be gratefully received from either businesses or people to go towards the care of the hedgehogs🦔 Please message Tina Hawkins

Thank you to West Quay Fundraisers for the donation, we have purchased 10kg of royal canin mother and baby cat biscuits 🦔 And thank you also to councillor Len Ford for our request from his councillor grant for 48 tins of royal canin starter mousse. 🦔 Baby season is almost here so any donations for food for the babies most welcome 🦔

Tonight we have waved goodbye to Mighty Mouse and Wilbur, Mighty Mouse had severe mite infestation which caused him to be so solid he was unable to uncurl and move properly. He had to endure many baths in addition to having lungworm and Capillaria. Wilbur came to us as a baby too young to be away from mum. While here he was also treated for Capillaria. He is definitely a character as you can see from him trying to get out of the weighing bowl 😂 Good luck guys 🤞

Tuesday 9th saw us at filleigh community centre doing a presentation on hedgehogs and us as a rescue to approximately 100 members of the south Molton U3A.
Savannah was really good and kept everyone engaged throughout.
She received compliments on the presentation (which she only finished at 4:30 am that day 🫣) and the information given was useful to many of the audience. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the organisers for inviting us 🦔

We have tonight waved another farewell 🦔
Forest came in to us in early November weighing 198g a cute little orphan.
Tonight he has left us weighing over 1100g😮 Be safe Forest and enjoy your freedom.
Good luck 🍀

Here at hedwigs we are fairly quiet at the moment, we currently have 7 hedgehogs inside, a couple are almost ready to go home and the rest are very poorly 😔
In our soft release pens outside we have 4 who are deciding that they still need to be hibernating as they are too lazy to get up😭 We haven't been this low on numbers for a while so we are absolutely making the most of it until the babies come in. We will be exhausted then, babies need feeding every 2 hours and they don't care if you are feeding at 12am, 2am, 4am, 6am then going to work and someone else has to do the day shift😂 This is where the food for the babies will be needed, they have to have specialist formula, royal canin puppy starter mousse and royal canin mother and baby cat biscuits (expensive tastes these little ones) We get our specialist foods from zoo plus so if anyone would like to buy some that would be amazing, we went through so much last year we had to put out an urgent plea so if we have it already in place it's one less thing for my exhausted brain to worry about 😊

Another release ☺️
This is Harry Silver who came in on October 7th 2023 from Roundswell
He was very small and out in the daytime. He only weighed 187g.
He was in an incubator and hand fed until he had put on a good amount of weight and was eating by himself.
He had Capillaria which he had treatment for.
He progressed to a hutch and reached release weight but due to the intake weigh he needed soft release.
He was put into one of our soft release pens to get used to the weather.
During this time he decided to hibernate so had to stay a bit longer 😂
On his wakening a sample was tested, he had contracted lungworm 😯
The poor guy then had to have that treatment too. Pleased to say that now clear he went home yesterday 👏 weighing 874g As his story shows it's not just getting them ready for the world, they sometimes need more treatment before they can go home. Good luck Harry Silver 🦔

Meet Squelch, he came in on March 21st.
He was found in a sump pit and had been in there for at least 24 hours. He was covered in dry hard mud and couldn't move very well. He had also worn all of his nails away trying to get out. Thankfully he has no internal parasites but just some ticks which have been removed. He has put on weight, is looking much better.
He has had numerous baths (which he really doesn't like)
He is still here while we are waiting for his nails to hopefully grow back so he will be able to forage for his beetles for dinner 🦔 Before and after photos ☺️
