On April 19th I had a missed call from west croft school. Odd I thought as I don't have any children there anymore.
I called back and they had found a hedgehog 🦔 out in the daytime.
A lovely staff member brought him to us that afternoon. On first inspection he looked like he didn't have any eyes, there were wounds under his eyes and they were starting to scab. Treatment started straight away with pain medication, antibiotics and fluids. He was also having optrex as an eye wash every few hours. After a few days his eyes started to open. He has very beautiful eyes now and can see. Wherever he has been he had been stuck somewhere and not being able to see he had been digging so has worn away his nails. A faecal sample was also tested and he has Capillaria so is on treatment for that too. He doesn't have a name yet so is literally called westcroft 😂
